East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin launched the first East Jakarta Agriculture Festival (EastJakFest) at the local Center for Arts and Culture Training (PPSB) on Jalan Haji Naman Nomor, RT 03/02, Pondok Kelapa Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district.

"Hopefully, this event will inspire more people,"

This event is a collaboration aimed at achieving food security and animal health, especially in East Jakarta. The festival was broadcast live on East Jakarta Youtube channel with title "East Jakarta Agriculture Festival 2025".

North Jakarta Mayor Launches Advanced Urban Farming Program

Munjirin stated that EastJakFest featured various activities, including technical guidance (Bimtek) covering topics such as Increasing Urban Farming Business Opportunities through Conventional and Hydroponic Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Post-Harvest Processing.

"This is the first time EastJakFest is held, combining programs in fisheries, animal husbandry, and agriculture. In the future, it will be held on a grander scale," he conveyed, on Tuesday (6/10).

According to him, this is an excellent opportunity to facilitate urban farmers, fish farmers, and ranchers in an event.

"If needed, this event could be held monthly," he expressed.

Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency Head, Hasudungan Sidabalok, appreciated the event initiated by the East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency. Especially since it is fully supported by the mayor and chairperson of East Jakarta TP PKK.

"We also hope that similar event can be held in other regions. If implemented simultaneously, the impact will be more significant for the community," he said.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto, mentioned that the East Jakarta Agriculture Festival 2025 aims to inspire and educate residents in terms of agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and animal health.

"This lauch event is held to celebrate Jakarta's 498th anniversary. EastJakFest offers various educational activities, including urban farming talk shows, and success stories," he explained.

According to him, participants had the opportunity to learn and listen directly about land utilization for agriculture, fisheries, and urban entrepreneurship from practitioners, business actors, or farmer groups that have been active in East Jakarta.

Besides urban farming talk shows, the EastJakFest also features other events, such as cat neutering, plant clinic consultations, free seed distribution, and a bazaar by Jakpreneur supported by East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency.

"This year's theme is 'Collaboration to Achieve Food Security and Animal Health in East Jakarta'," he stated.

He mentioned that the urban farming talk show featured speakers: Umar Hidayat who hosted a discussion about land utilization and business opportunities in conventional agricultural cultivation; Rojali who delivered a presentation on land utilization and business opportunities through consumable fish farming; Desy who host a discussion about prospects of juice business; and Fetty from Borobudur University who presented her research findings on urban farming in East Jakarta.

"We also featured public figures Widi Mulia (AB Three) to discuss healthy lifestyle habits," he revealed.

In the next session, there was also Zulkifli (Opik) from Green Puspa Utan Kayu Utara Farmer Group (Poktan) who shared insights on community empowerment through the use of limited yard space for hydroponic and aquaculture cultivation.

"We also invited Dr. Abid Mursyid from PT Mars Pet Nutrition to discuss the benefits of sterilization for pets. The talk show was moderated by Wida Kirana and Opan," said Taufik.

Taufik expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of EastJakFest 2025, including relevant OPDs, business sectors, urban farmers, farmer groups, academics, and the media.

"Hopefully, this event will inspire more people to engage in sustainable activities in the agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry sectors as part of efforts to support food security and animal health in urban areas," he conveyed.
